CDW
Consultants, Inc. (CDW) was hired to perform an environmental audit of select
processes, buildings, and departments on one of Boston College’s (BC)
campuses. The audit was multi-media and focused on strategies to become and
maintain regulatory status as a Small Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator,
under both the more stringent state regulations, and the federal regulations.
The audit covered compliance requirements with the Resource Conservation and
Recovery Act, the Toxics Substances Control Act, the Emergency Planning and
Community Right-to- Know Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, as well
as comparable state and local regulatory requirements. Based upon the audit,
CDW prepared a contingency plan, employee training program, and strategies
for filing for a small quantity hazardous waste generator status in order to
minimize waste reporting and filing requirements. In addition, CDW assisted
the College in addressing a one-time disposal for laboratory chemicals that
were no longer of use to the university’s many training and research
laboratories. |
