was retained to provide Engineering design and extensive permit support for
this 28 unit raised townhouse development. The site contains flood zone,
bordering vegetated wetlands, coastal bank, coastal dune, coastal wetlands,
river bank, and FEMA flood zone as well as previously placed filled
tidelands. The project will require permitting through the local
conservation commission, planning board, board of health, board of
selectmen as well as the Massachusetts Department of Environmental
Protection under the Chapter 91 Program and the MEPA office as well as
MassHighway. The project is in an
environmentally sensitive area which required utilization of alternative
technologies in pavement design and for the installation of a subsurface
sewage disposal system. The pavement design incorporate pervious pavement
design for drainage in compliance with DEP Stormwater Guidance on this site
where groundwater is two feet below existing grade. The site also contains
a pressure dosed leach field with BioClere units for secondary nitrogen
removal and a anoxic filter for tertiary treatment creating an ultimate
wastewater discharge with less than 5ppm nitrogen. |
