CDW
provided cooperative technical assistance to multiple project teams designing
the rehabilitation of the MBTA Arlington Station/Copley Station stations. The
work was completed under an aggressive compliance schedule. CDW initially
conducted a visual survey of the MBTA Arlington and Copley Square stations,
to identify, quantify, and evaluate the condition of suspected hazardous
materials. In addition, preliminary abatement cost estimates were prepared.
Suspect hazardous materials in each station room or location that were likely
to be impacted during an upcoming renovation project were targeted. Hazardous
materials included asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), lead-based paint,
transformer oil possibly containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), mercury-containing
electrical switches, and fluorescent light bulbs and ballasts possibly
containing mercury and/or PCBs. |
