Water Resources Planning and GIS

CDW performed an evaluation of the Town's watershed basin, including three Nashua River sub-watersheds, and current and future anticipated land uses and developments, and prepared a base map overlay using local and MASSGIS sources as part of a comprehensive water resources management plan.  CDW compiled data gathered in previous studies and published data, NOAA climatic data, NRCS soil conditions, hydrologic and hydrogeologic soils data, and regional water quality conditions. CDW also identified and mapped the presence of wetland areas, poorly suited soils, flood plains, historically troubled surface water bodies, and rare species habitats.

The evaluation included a description of the Town's water system, a determination of past water use trends and future anticipated water demands, a summary of future potential well sites, and a review of past water conservation efforts and the potential for future water demand reduction. CDW also performed a comprehensive water balance analysis of sources including groundwater, surface water, storm water, on-site wastewater disposal, inter-basin transfers, and well withdrawals, in order to develop a baseline evaluation of existing water balances.
