Anderson Memorial Bridge
Boston and Cambridge, MA
MassDOT undertook the repair and rehabilitation of the Anderson Memorial Bridge, which spans the Charles River between Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. CDW, as part of the design team, is responsible for conducting a hazardous material assessment and preparing the required environmental permitting for this project. The CDW team reviewed the rehabilitation project alternatives and additives and assessed the potential federal, state, and local environmental permits and reviews. This guidance document provides the decision makers with the potential impacts of permits on the project timeline and budget. We assessed the project area for potential hazardous materials, such as asbestos containing materials, lead paint, and soot. These materials require abatement prior to the rehabilitation process and add to the project timeline and budget.
